MAC Surf Baby Lipstick and Lipglass Review

In the Surf Baby collection, MAC have released four shades - Bust Out! (dirty violet - lustre), Hibiscus (orange coral - cremesheen), Mocha (peachy brown - satin, Permanent) and Naturally Eccentric (creamy white nude - lustre). I purchased Bust Out! and Hibiscus - I actually bought two of Hibiscus because I loved the colour so much, I am waiting for the second one to be delivered.

L-R: Bust Out!, Hibiscus

Bust Out! is nice and creamy and can be applied semi sheer to semi opaque by building the colour up with a second swipe. It isn't a bright purple on my lips as shown in the tube but it is more blue based than recent purple lipsticks released such as Style Curve and Playtime, comparison swatches are at the end. Being a lustre it gives a glossy look to lips.

Hibiscus is a beautiful shade of orange coral, very very creamy and easy to apply evenly. It is verging on opaque in one swipe. It is a great colour for Summer without being too bright such as a true orange so if you are afraid to wear orange really bright, you could consider this instead. It is quite warm toned but I think it could still work on cooler skintones and I think it would look really nice on fair skin with the contrast. I have seen cool toned fair skinned women wearing oranges and they still look great so if you like the colour, go test it out to see.

MAC Jeanius Collection Picks and Review

I know I've been really slow getting this review up, I suck haha. Sorry. Some of this collection is still available under the Going, Going, Gone section of MAC's website and may possibly be still in stock in some stores. I bought Pink Cult Blush and Indigo Pink Lipglass from this collection. I wasn't too thrilled with the whole thing but thought these were both nice products. I also already had Docile Lipglass which was repromoted from the Fabulous Felines collection last year. I don't have a product photo of this because I forgot but I do have a swatch photo.

Indigo Pink Lipglass and Pink Cult Blush
First up, Docile. This is a very light milky pink with iridescent sparkles. It is very subtle when worn but the sparkle effect is nice. I like this with a smokey eye as it pales my lips a little without going nude. Not a must have item in my opinion but it is still nice. In the Lightfully Bright collection at the beginning of this year, similar type glosses were released.

Next, Indigo Pink Lipglass.
This is a very pretty colour and unlike anything else I have. It is a reddened berry pink and has blue flecks in it which I really like. I think it is a nice take on red if you don't want a postbox shade. I also think it is a year round colour. I'd wear it with the sort of eye makeup I'm wearing in the full face photo, a nude eye.

Top: Docile, bottom: Indigo Pink

Lastly, Pink Cult Blush. I can't see this on the website so hopefully you can get hold of it in store or already have it. It is a neutral rosey pink. It is very pigmented and a perfect barely there flushed shade. It would work so well on a pale skintone especially.

MAC Wonder Woman Lipglass and Lipstick Review

The Wonder Woman collection included four shades of lipstick and four shades of lipglass, ranging from pale pink, purple, bronze and red. I picked up two of the lipglasses and three of the lipsticks. MAC's lipsticks and lipglasses are vanilla scented, so yummy.

The Lipsticks I got were Marquise'd (sheer pink nude with sheen - lustre finish), Spitfire (magenta purply pink - satin finish) and Russian Red (rich blue based red - matte finish). I had been wanting Russian Red for a while so decided to pick it up from this collection as it was in cool packaging lol. The packaging for these is so fun, the outer is blue with the Wonder Woman logo and the cap is red. The metal tube inside is gold with a red star, I love it but I know it is not for everyone.

I really like lustre finishes but they don't tend to last long on the lips however I find them moisturising and they make my lips appear full. Marquise'd, being a light shade lasts even less time on the lips than darker lustre finish shades. It is a very nice colour though, I really like to wear it to work to help give my lips moisture and also a bit of colour. I don't work in a place where you need to stay safe with your clothes or makeup and hair but I do sometimes get stupid comments from colleagues about the way I dress so I am often put off wearing bright lip colours there. Therefore, I am glad I picked this colour. It also works so well with smokey eye makeup or 60's inspired makeup. On less red toned natural lips, this would appear lighter and pinker.

Spitfire is meant to be pinker from other swatches I have seen but it definitely purple toned on my lips.It might be because my bare lips are quite red naturally. It is another comfortable to wear lipstick. If you like the look of matte lipsticks but find them really drying, you might want to try a satin finish for a similar look. I like this colour for a more subtle version of MAC Violetta (on my lips) but you might find it comes out pinker on your own lips. If you are looking for a purply shade, go for Violetta instead. This is a little disappointment to me because I wanted it to be pinker on me but never mind, it is still a nice lipstick.

Russian Red is my favourite out of the three although I wont get much wear out of it due to idiots at work. I think it is probably my perfect shade of red, it is just a stunning colour. I like that it is blue based as it works well with my warm skin tone although it can look a bit more neutral on my skin. I find that orange based reds just look orange on me so it is nice to have a proper red. I have one other matte MAC lipstick and find it so drying on my already dry lips but Russian Red doesn't do that to me thankfully. This colour would work on any skin tone definitely, it is such a universal shade. You can buy it from the permanent line so if you aren't fussed about packaging, you may aswell get it in regular black and save a little bit of money.

MAC Viva Glam Gaga II

New lipstick and lipglass by Lady Gaga for the MAC Viva Glam range. This one is in a really nice looking nude which I look forward to seeing in real life. It isn't a limited edition but it will be around for a limited time (I don't know how long but Viva Gaga I and Viva Cyndi are also around for a limited time. They have been here for a while so if it is the same you should have time to get one if you wish). The Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses were launched to raise money and awareness for AIDS, profits go to the MAC AIDS Fund - http://www.macaidsfund.org/
